UNSEEN: How I Lost My Vision but Found My Voice
Now available for pre-order in print and audio
Molly Burke’s second book, UNSEEN, is a fiercely honest, darkly funny, and deeply empowering memoir that pulls back the curtain on what it’s like to navigate the world as a blind woman. In this vulnerable and powerful story, Molly explores the complexities of growing up disabled—not just facing external challenges, but pushing back against the narrow perceptions that too often defined her.
From being a rock-climbing instructor and pageant winner to enduring relentless bullying, toxic workspaces, and even a rodent-infested apartment, Molly has lived through both devastating lows and dazzling highs. From red carpets and first-class flights to isolation and heartbreak, UNSEEN embraces the full spectrum of life—and celebrates the power of claiming your truth.
Through it all, Molly has learned that the key to joy, success, and resilience lies in being unapologetically yourself and fighting for what you believe in. More than a memoir, UNSEEN is a rallying cry for change—a call to build a more inclusive and compassionate world. As Molly shares her journey as an entrepreneur, entertainer, and advocate, she invites readers to find strength in their own stories, challenge societal expectations, and embrace the messy beauty of being human.
Centering Disability with Every Page
From the very beginning, UNSEEN was created with accessibility at its core. Molly worked closely with Abrams Publishing to ensure that disabled readers felt seen, considered, and valued throughout the design process. Every choice was made with universal design in mind:
The cover features braille, tactile textures, and metallic foil lettering to reflect the light perception Molly still has
A bold, high-contrast color scheme and sans-serif font were chosen for better readability for those with low vision or print disabilities like dyslexia
Italics were replaced with bold text, and attention was paid to font size, spacing, and paper color for a more inclusive reading experience
Molly also collaborated with a team of disabled women to design the cover—fusing creativity with lived experience in every detail.

Before UNSEEN, Molly introduced herself to the world through a bold publishing choice: her debut memoir, It’s Not What It Looks Like, released exclusively on Audible in 2019. Growing up blind with limited access to books in accessible formats, Molly challenged the publishing world by telling her story in the way that made the most sense to her—through audio.
Narrated by Molly herself, the book unfolds in a series of raw, reflective, and often humorous chapters that bring listeners directly into her world. This intimate audio-first approach created a powerful connection with audiences and offered a fresh, thoughtful twist on storytelling—one that broke down barriers and built new bridges of empathy and understanding.
With over 260,000 downloads, 11,500+ reviews, and a 4.5-star rating, It’s Not What It Looks Like became an Audible best-seller—and marked just the beginning of Molly’s journey as a writer, advocate, and storyteller unafraid to do things differently.
